A temporary public art action beside the River Nith, Dumfries town centre. Directed by artists Matt Baker (Scotland) and  Kofi Setordji  (Ghana).

What the Swallows Find 001, Dumfries.
Image from Kofi Setordji’s cameraphone on the drive from the airport – his first experience of Scottish landscape. Kofi’s arrival coincided exactly with the first swallows of the year.
What the Swallows Find 002, Dumfries.
2009 was designated the ‘year of homecoming’ in Scotland. The campaign was particularly aimed at attracting tourist visits from those of Scottish descent whose families emigrated in years past.
What the Swallows Find 003, Dumfries.
The swallow is a very popular tattoo design – traditionally it represents good luck + homecoming. The tattoo is particularly popular with sailors and prisoners.

Installation detail – ‘whats fresh?’ is a local version of the phrase ‘Whats new?” or ‘Whats changed?’
