Former union pit, Forest of Dean 1996

Permanent sculpture.

Commissioned by The Royal Forest of Dean Freeminers Association and supported entirely by public subscription. Commemorating the Union Pit flooding disaster of 1902.

Carved entirely on site from a 10 tonne stone quarried just 300 metres from the mine
Still There Were Brothers 001, Forest of Dean.
The 3 men that died included Thomas and Amos James. When the water level fell the brothers were found standing hand in hand.
Still There Were Brothers 004, Forest of Dean.
Opening ceremony for the sculpture (highlighted) included a male voice choir and specially brewed beer.
