The culture of the Gorbals is one of change. Traditionally a staging point for new immigrants to Scotland, the area has been razed to the ground and rebuilt 3 times in the last 150 yearsLarge scale collaborative project reflecting the artist’s interest in ‘places in transition’ which grew into an artworks strategy woven into the structure of the comprehensive regeneration of the area. More than 30 artists worked on the project. A mix of locally, nationally and internationally based artists; delivering temporary and permanent public artworksAs the former Burial Ground (1715), the Rose Garden is the only surviving space from the ‘original’ Gorbals.
The strategic position of the Artworks Programme enabled this public space to be remodelled hrough the linking of 3 artwork projects.
