Permanent sculpture. Peat Garden, Threave Gardens. Commissioned by National Trust Scotland.

Materials: Welsh slate, Galloway beach stones, oak.

Descender (Maternal Line) 002, Threave Gardens.
Painted on each stone is the last four surnames of the artist’s maternal line, over time, these will wear off leaving only the carved ‘nee’,

The carved face in the slate is based on drawings made of the last 3 generations of the artist’s Maternal line.

3 years in-situ. The oak squares are beginning to blacken and rot down, allowing the sculpture to sink towards the ground.
